Where has the time gone????

This is Jackson at 2 yrs old................

I am finally scrapbooking all the pictures from our years in England. These pictures have been in a box for years for a few reasons. One, I have so many recent pictures that I was trying to get into scrapbooks. Two, the memories that go with this box of photos were a little too much to deal with at times. I am only able to do a few pages at a time and then I end up crying. As i sit down and go through all these pictures from about 8 years ago, I keep wondering...where has the time gone? It seems like just yesterday my little boy was learning to drink from a sippy cup, was turning 2......loved Barney......would fall asleep in his highchair while he was eating, and was learning his numbers and letters. Now my baby boy is 10 years old!
I miss those years....i miss those sweet innocent days where the little things like a box would entertain him for an hour. The days where playing in his sandbox was like taking a little vacation. Now my baby boy is learning how to cook, can play sports, can do multiplication, can tie his own shoes, and goes to the bathroom without needing me there!!! I can't hold the tears back knowing that those days where he needed me constantly, are gone. Guess I'm just feeling old today. I have to ask.......Does every mom go through this????? I'm a mess now.....What am I gonna do when he goes to college?

Merry Christmas.....

Our beautiful tree.....before Santa came.....

And after Santa came.........

More birthday stuff....

I am so proud of the cupcake christmas tree Jax and I made for him to take to school on his b-day.....check it out....i really got in touch with my inner Martha Stewart!!!
And of course......you have to have birthday pancakes with candles for your birthday breakfast!!!

I'm back!!!!

Okay..finally!!! My laptop is fixed and I'm back online!!! Whooo Hooooo!!!! I can't believe I've skipped out on blogging for months. But as one of my many New Years Resolutions I'm going to try and blog more frequently! Hopefully I can keep it up this time.

So much has happened over the last few months. I will be covering the highlights in the next few posts. And let me just say....... I have a bunch of pics to post of all the different events!

In addition to the holidays, Jackson had a huge birthday in December! My baby boy turned 10!!! yep ....double digits! I can't believe it's been ten years!! Anyway, he had a super cool XBOX tournament sleepover! It was awesome, and I totally impressed myself. I figured out how to system link 2 XBOX systems together. We had 2 flat screen TV's set up and Jax and his friends were able to game against each other all at the same time! Did I mention AWESOME??? I even made XBOX cupcakes to look like the buttons on an XBOX controller! And of course we wore video game shirts! Why not??!
Here's a pic of all the boys and the birthday cupcake pyramid (way cheaper than buying a cake) Oh yes.....it was me and 5 boys!! Who stayed up until they all passed out around 2ish. I made it through with a large pot of coffee and some diet coke. Thank goodness birthdays are only once a year!! What a party!

Our very cool video game shirts.....oh yeah.....very cool!! Can't wait until next year........

More football!!!!

We had our first scrimmage last night. It was awesome!!! I didn't realize how excited I would get about football. Practices suck.....and thankfully the conditioning part is over now. But watching them actually get out there against another team is really cool. All the boys hard work has really paid off. They were awesome and did alot better than I was expecting. Oh and one more thing......We had weigh-in's this week. And Jackson has lost 10lbs from playing football!!! I was shocked, Jackson was really proud of himself though.

Ok, back to the scrimmage. When Jackson got up on that line across from a kid who I swear was big enough to be in 10th grade, I was really nervous. But more importantly, I was so excited to see Jax hit him! Is that wrong? Oh well! I would like to see that kids drivers license and birth certificate though, ha ha......he was huge!!! Anyway, Jax got knocked to the ground the first 2 plays, but he got right back up and kept going. And then he seemed to find his groove and held his own for the rest of the game. I was really proud of him. Our first game is on Saturday.....I CAN'T WAIT!!!! A much needed Gatorade break!!!!
I love this pic. It will be great for the scrapbook. I just thought it was so cute to see him sitting there waiting to go into the game.

Huxley !!!

Some latest pics of my nephew Huxley!! He is sooooooo cute!!! My sister SueAnn and Huxley are coming out to visit us for a week in August! Jackson and I are so super excited to have them with us. And he's really excited that they can join me in taking Jackson to his first day of 4th grade!!!!!

The first tackle...

Okay, so I have just realized that one of the hardest things to watch your son do, is get tackled for the first time. I also realized that in all the years I watched football, I never really put much thought into how much a tackle would actually hurt. I know that sounds funny, but as a girl, it's really the last thing on my mind ! Now I realize that I didn't prepare Jax for it the best that I could. I mean, we talked about football being tough and that he would get hurt. But how do you prepare your child to get the shit knocked out of him? Especially when I've never been tackled! How do you prepare him and let him know how much it's gonna hurt and what to expect?

Well, Jackson took a beating last night. Most of the 2 hour practice was tackling and getting knocked around. I was a nervous wreck........mom's should not have to watch this!!! The first tackle knocked him to the ground and he just laid there. I think he was in shock. I know I was, as I leaned on the fence biting my nails! His coach picked him up and smacked his butt and said some encouraging words to him. Which was nice to see. I have to add, my son's coaches are awesome. They are tough, but at the same time they really build the kids up and really teach them alot, and most importantly, they really do care about the kids.

Anyway, after his tackle, Jax came over to me on his way back across the field, I could see 2 tears falling down his cheeks. He just looked at me and said,"mom, it really hurts". Holy shit!! What do you say to your kid at this point? How do you not baby him in front of his team? Why does he have to be so damn grown up already at only 9 yrs old? All I could say was," it's always gonna hurt buddy, it's football. You're doing a good job out there, just stay tough, and go kick some ass" He smiled and ran back out on the field.

The good news is, I finally have all the pads figured out and what pockets they go in. And last night I realized I had his belt all jacked up too. Other than me not knowing what I'm doing, I think we're getting the hang of it.
